Never-Before-Seen Footage of Britney Spears Discussing Conservatorship Aired After She Claimed It Was Cut from 2016 Appearance

Britney Spears’ comments about her conservatorship from 2016 have resurfaced after previously being excluded from broadcast. In her memoir, released in 2023, Britney expressed frustration that her remarks on a talk show were cut, highlighting the necessity of being “strategic” about her comments while under conservatorship.

In November 2021, after 13 years of strict control over her personal and professional life by her father, Jamie Spears, and legal representatives, Britney’s conservatorship was officially terminated. During her legal struggles, she revealed alarming details about her treatment, including being forced to take medication and having an IUD inserted against her will. She voiced her belief that those involved in the conservatorship, particularly her father, should face imprisonment for their actions.

In her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” Britney looked back on her attempts to speak out publicly about her plight, pinpointing a specific talk show appearance in 2016 when she referenced her conservatorship. Although she did not disclose the show’s name at that time, it has since been reported that it was “The Jonathan Ross Show.” During the interview, she reportedly described her ninth studio album, “Glory,” as “her baby,” indicating it was her first project where she had significant creative control despite the conservatorship.

Television audience members recalled Britney sharing her feelings about the conservatorship, expressing how she had to be strategic in her artistic decisions, while host Jonathan Ross acknowledged the difficulties she faced. Reports indicate that ITV, the network airing the show, held discussions about what to do with this footage before ultimately deciding to exclude any mention of the conservatorship.

Recently, ITV aired the previously unseen segment, surprising many viewers. Fashion writer Philip Logan took to social media to share his astonishment at the newfound clip. In the footage, Jonathan Ross asks Britney about her increased involvement in her music, which leads her to reveal her discomfort and explain how her conservatorship affected her decisions.

As she discussed her desire to take control of her music while under the conservatorship, the audience reacted positively to her, with Jonathan noting that Britney’s personal touch would resonate more with listeners. He expressed admiration for her connection with fans, prompting Britney to reflect on the intimate experiences she cherished during performances.

Britney has not publicly addressed the airing of this footage. Viewers can now watch the previously cut segment online and share their thoughts on this significant moment from the pop star’s past.
