Trump Campaign Suspends Press Credentials for Reporters Following Negative Coverage Amid ‘Fascist’ Comments from Former Advisers

On election night, the Trump campaign took the controversial step of revoking press credentials for multiple reporters, a move believed to be in retaliation for what they deemed negative coverage of the former president. Reports from sources indicate that journalists from various outlets were denied access to Trump’s watch party held in West Palm Beach, Florida, following critical reporting that included comments from former advisers labeling Trump a “fascist.”

According to insider accounts, a reporter from Politico discovered that their press credentials had been rescinded after an article reported on the firing of the campaign’s field director for alleged White nationalist ties. In a similar vein, Tara Palmeri from Puck found herself stripped of access after she highlighted “anxiety” within the Trump campaign. Palmeri expressed her surprise on her podcast, revealing that her honest coverage had angered Trump’s campaign manager, leading to her exclusion from the evening’s events.

An insider from the Trump campaign confirmed the credential revocation but refuted claims that it stemmed from “critical” coverage. They insisted the issue was instead related to inaccuracies in reporting, emphasizing that other reporters from the same outlets were still allowed to attend the watch party.

This incident follows a pattern of hostility from Trump toward mainstream media, with the ex-president previously suggesting that journalists be investigated for “treason” and advocating for punitive actions against broadcasters critical of his campaign. Trump’s long-standing battle with media outlets continues to fuel controversy; he has frequently labeled them as purveyors of “fake news.”

Amidst all this, prominent figures who once served in the Trump administration, including former cabinet members and military generals, have distanced themselves from his 2024 presidential campaign, describing him as “unfit” for office. General Mark Milley has gone so far as to characterize Trump as “fascist to the core” and one of the “most dangerous” individuals in America’s political landscape.
