‘Venom: The Last Dance’ Opens to Trilogy’s Lowest Box Office Numbers

Tom Hardy’s latest film, “Venom: The Last Dance,” has officially hit theaters, but the opening weekend box office results tell a different story. Debuting on October 25, this installment featuring one of Spider-Man’s most notorious villains is off to a rocky start compared to its predecessors.

According to reports, “The Last Dance” earned a total of $51 million domestically over its opening weekend from 4,125 theaters across North America. This falls short of the anticipated $65 million, and marks a significant decline from the original “Venom,” which grossed $80 million, and its sequel, “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” which opened to $90 million.

On the international front, the film fared slightly better, raking in $124 million and bringing its global earnings to $175 million. Despite these figures, it has secured a place as the third highest opening of 2024, trailing behind “Inside Out 2” and “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

Meanwhile, other films are also vying for attention at the box office. “Smile 2” managed to claim the No. 2 position with $9.6 million, while Ralph Fiennes’ “Conclave” opened at No. 3 with $6.5 million. Following closely behind are Lupita Nyong’o’s “The Wild Robot” at No. 4 with $6.4 million, and Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield’s “We Live In Time,” which grossed $4.8 million, rounding out the top five.

In summary, while “Venom: The Last Dance” has made its debut, the results suggest it’s struggling to replicate the success of its forerunners.
