Ashley James’ son hospitalized after experiencing seizure

Ashley James, a well-known personality from This Morning, recently shared a concerning health scare involving her three-year-old son, Alfie. On her social media, she revealed that her son was rushed to the hospital following a distressing seizure, a situation she described as “scary” for both her and her family.

On November 11, Ashley posted a serene autumn picture on Instagram alongside an important message about her son’s condition, emphasizing the need for awareness. She expressed, “I was hesitant to share this, but it seems to be a common issue in children under five.” She reassured followers that no distressing images were included, focusing instead on happier moments captured after Alfie had started to recover.

Ashley recounted that the ordeal began when Alfie complained of a stomach ache on a Friday evening. Unfortunately, his condition worsened, leading to alarming symptoms. “I took him out of the bath thinking he might have trapped wind,” she explained. “Then suddenly, he started to convulse.” This prompted a visit to the Accident & Emergency department, where the staff provided excellent care that Ashley praised profusely, voicing her gratitude for the NHS.

After the emergency visit, Ashley took her son for a follow-up appointment because he still seemed unwell the following Saturday. Doctors diagnosed him with Febrile Seizures, which occur in young children experiencing a fever. Ashley shared that when she checked his temperature post-seizure, it was a concerning 38.1 degrees, rising to 39.8 the next day. She noted that these types of seizures typically last only a few minutes and often resolve on their own. Parents are usually advised to stay with the child and place them in the recovery position during such incidents, and don’t hesitate to call for medical assistance if needed.

Reflecting on the emotional toll this experience took on her, Ashley admitted, “When your child falls ill, it feels like the world comes to a standstill. It was incredibly frightening.” Nonetheless, she hopes that by sharing her story, it might assist others who face similar health crises with their children. After the scare, she expressed gratitude for the time they spent together on Sunday, cherishing the relief that came with his recovery.

Alfie is not Ashley’s only child; she also has a one-year-old daughter named Ada, whom she shares with her partner Tom Andrews.
