Disgraced Nigel Lythgoe has failed in his attempt to compel his accuser to disclose her identity in a fourth sexual misconduct lawsuit against the former TV talent show executive.

Sydtomarket.net has exclusively obtained court documents showing that a Los Angeles judge ruled the accuser, identified only as “Jane Doe,” can proceed with her case anonymously. Lythgoe, who is 75 and has previously been sued by Paula Abdul for alleged sexual misconduct, had argued that Doe should be required to reveal her identity, claiming she had not provided special reasons to remain anonymous.

However, the judge determined that disclosing Doe’s identity could subject her to harm and retaliation. The ruling noted that the allegations are sensitive and personal, justifying her anonymity.

Doe’s lawsuit, filed in March, accuses Lythgoe of assaulting her at his Los Angeles home in 2018. Her complaint details an incident in which Lythgoe allegedly forced her against a wall and groped her.

Lythgoe’s legal team argued that anonymity could prejudice his defense by preventing witnesses from coming forward and potentially leading the jury and public to assume Doe is a victim by default. They contended that California law requires plaintiffs to use their real names in court.

Despite these claims, the judge ruled that it is Lythgoe’s responsibility to locate and contact witnesses, not for them to seek him out based on media reports. The decision allows Doe to maintain her anonymity throughout the proceedings, with the option for the court to revisit the issue as the trial progresses.

Lythgoe, who recently stepped down from “So You Think You Can Dance” amid Abdul’s lawsuit, is also contending with other legal battles, including another case involving contestants from his former show “All American Girl.” He has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct and continues to fight to clear his name.
