FBI: International’s Jay Hayden: Tyler Intensifies Wes’s Struggles

Jay Hayden’s character Tyler Booth is causing quite a stir in CBS’s FBI: International. As the show’s newest addition, Hayden suggests that viewers have only seen the beginning of Tyler’s tumultuous journey. In an exclusive chat, Hayden revealed that Tyler’s presence is set to complicate things for the Fly Team, particularly for his former partner, Wes Mitchell, played by Jesse Lee Soffer.

During his debut episode, which aired on December 10, Tyler, a Charleston-based agent, calls upon Wes, now the Fly Team’s Special Agent in Charge in Budapest, to help capture a fugitive from the FBI’s Most Wanted list. While their partnership has a storied past, it appears their old dynamics will resurface amidst the high-pressure stakes of the cases they face.

Hayden elaborated on Tyler’s “checkered past” and the implications it holds for Wes. He noted that while Wes desires Tyler to adhere to the rules of the job, the pressure of ongoing intense cases could lead to some unorthodox decision-making. Given that Wes has shown a history of bending protocol for results, Tyler’s influence might blur those lines even further. The upcoming episodes promise to explore how the return of an old nemesis from their past might force Wes into challenging moral dilemmas, especially with Tyler’s unpredictable nature in the mix.

The actor emphasized the complexities of their relationship, hinting at the potential for Tyler to disrupt Wes’s striving to maintain order. Tyler’s past with Wes not only complicates their professional environment but also brings an emotional weight to the series, as Wes grapples with the challenges of leadership while managing personal connections.

Interestingly, despite the tension Tyler might add to the Fly Team, he remains grounded due to his college-aged daughter back in the U.S. This relationship serves as a crucial anchor for Tyler, influencing his decisions and actions throughout the series.

With their intertwined histories and contrasting approaches to problem-solving, viewers can expect an evolving narrative that challenges both characters as they navigate the complexities of their careers and personal lives. FBI: International continues to air on CBS on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET, inviting fans to tune in for what promises to be a thrilling season filled with drama and character development.
