Jason Kelce Opens Up About the Frustration of Competing Against Brother Travis Kelce
Jason Kelce is sharing some eye-opening thoughts about the challenges of playing against his younger brother, Travis Kelce, in the NFL. On a recent episode of Monday Night Countdown, aired on November 25, Jason candidly expressed just how annoying it was to face off against his sibling. “It’s annoying, is what it is,” he laughed, highlighting Travis’s exceptional skills on the field as a key factor. “They [the Kansas City Chiefs] were very good. I was only fortunate to beat Trav once, but, yeah, when you’re out there on the field and getting ready to play your brother, you can’t help but reminisce about playing in the backyard together.”
Travis, drafted by the Chiefs in 2013, has achieved remarkable success, including three Super Bowl titles in 2020, 2023, and 2024. As the Chiefs strive for their third consecutive championship, they have posted an impressive 10-1 record in the ongoing 2024-2025 season, despite suffering their first loss to the Buffalo Bills on November 17.
The Kelce brothers share a bond that transcends football, reflecting deep support and humor in their relationship. They have often provided glimpses into their lives off the field, even inspiring moments during Travis’s recent Saturday Night Live hosting gig.
Jason was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011 and spent 13 seasons with the team before announcing his retirement in March. Following his retirement, he joined ESPN to co-host Monday Night Countdown and made his debut in September. Excitingly, Jason will host a new late-night talk show on ESPN starting January 3, 2025. “The biggest thing players say they miss when they leave the sport is being around the guys, the locker room, the banter,” Jason shared, revealing that the show will feature fellow athletes, coaches, and celebrities.
In addition to his broadcasting news, Jason and his wife, Kylie, recently announced they are expecting their fourth child, another girl, which has brought a wave of joy to their family. Jason humorously commented on how his children react to the news of expanding the family, embodying the warmth and humor that defines their household.
Jason reflected on fatherhood by saying, “I love my kids so much, and especially my daughters. They warm your soul in a way that nothing else can.” As they prepare to welcome a new member into their family, the Kelce brothers continue to be celebrated for their incredible journeys both on and off the field.
