Jay Leno Calls Election a Great Day for Democracy Despite His Dislike for Donald Trump

Jay Leno Weighs In on Election Day: Celebrates Democracy Despite Personal Disdain for Trump

In a recent appearance on CBS’s The Talk, Jay Leno expressed his thoughts on the election results, where Donald Trump emerged victorious over Vice President Kamala Harris. Leno, who made it clear that he is “not a fan” of Trump, nonetheless acknowledged the significance of the election, deeming it “a great day for democracy.”

During the show, Leno highlighted what he saw as a pivotal aspect of the electoral process, stating that it was conducted in a fair and honest manner. He remarked, “The nice thing about this election is it was fair, it was honest. I’m not a fan, but that’s fine—this is the president of the United States. Let’s all come together, thank you very much.”

Leno further shared his apprehension about potential disputes arising from the close election results, noting, “You know, my fear is they’ll be watching this, and there are 1,100 votes out of 300 million between the candidates, and it’s going to be name-calling about the outcome. It was done professionally—there was no cheating. Everybody says it was honest. I mean, it’s a great day for democracy.”

When asked by co-host Natalie Morales about his memories of hosting The Tonight Show during past elections, Leno remarked on the changing political landscape. “It was different back then. You made fun of both sides, and you’d get angry letters from both ends. Nowadays, it feels like you have to take a side. It’s just not the same.”

Earlier this year, Leno reiterated his skepticism about Trump during an appearance on Piers Morgan’s show. He stated, “I’m not a fan… If the people want [Trump] as president, that’s fine. I just think we could do a little better morally.”
