Jennifer Garner Reveals Friend Killed in L.A. Wildfires: ‘She Didn’t Get Out on Time’

Jennifer Garner Grieves Friend’s Death in L.A. Wildfires

In a heartbreaking revelation, Jennifer Garner has announced the tragic loss of a close friend in the devastating wildfires sweeping across Los Angeles. The Golden Globe-winning actress shared her sorrow, stating her friend “didn’t get out on time” as the fires raged on, resulting in a death toll that has now risen to 11.

Garner, who has been actively involved in relief efforts, was spotted collaborating with the World Central Kitchen to provide meals for the survivors of the Palisades fire. During a recent media engagement, the 52-year-old actress expressed her deep sorrow over the ongoing crisis, saying, “I did lose a friend. And for our church, it’s really tender. So, I don’t feel like I should talk about her yet. But yeah, I did lose a friend who did not get out on time.”

In addition to her personal loss, Garner reflected on the countless victims affected by the wildfires, sharing, “My heart bleeds for all my friends. I can think of a hundred families, and there are 5,000 homes lost. I feel almost guilty walking through my house just, you know, what can I do? How can I help? What can I offer?”

The actress also revealed that the Methodist church her family attended, where her children experienced Sunday school, has been destroyed in the fires. “We lit the Advent candle together there a couple of weeks ago. It’s a central part of our community,” she said.

Despite the chaos surrounding the wildfires, Garner’s home remained safe. Meanwhile, her ex-husband Ben Affleck, who evacuated from his Los Angeles mansion, sought refuge at her home during the crisis. The pair, who were married from 2005 to 2018, continue to co-parent their three children: Violet, 19; Fin, 15; and Samuel, 12. Following his separation from Jennifer Lopez, Affleck’s recent move into a new home came after selling their previous marital estate for approximately $68 million.

The Los Angeles wildfires have devastated nearly 38,000 acres, with over 153,000 residents under evacuation orders due to multiple raging fires, including the Eaton Fire, the Palisades Fire, and the Sunset Fire. The destruction has resulted in the loss of more than 12,000 structures. In response to the tragedy, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that over 1,400 firefighting personnel have been deployed to combat the blazes, emphasizing the state’s commitment to protecting lives and homes.

As communities come together to recover from this natural disaster, Garner continues to lend her support to those in need, embodying a spirit of resilience amidst the sorrow.
