Paul Feig Addresses Blake Lively’s Lawsuit Rumors Affecting A Simple Favor 2 Release

Paul Feig Addresses Rumors Surrounding A Simple Favor 2’s Release Delay

It’s been a hot topic lately in the entertainment world, and you might recall the 2018 dark comedy A Simple Favor, directed by the talented Paul Feig. The movie, featuring standout performances by Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, impressed audiences with its clever writing and earned over $97 million on a modest $20 million budget.

Certainly, sequels are a standard expectation in Hollywood, and A Simple Favor 2 was indeed filmed last year with the original cast returning. Recently, rumors spread, fueled by a viral tweet from an unnamed source, claiming that the follow-up had been shelved “indefinitely,” allegedly linked to Blake’s legal issues with It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni.

Paul Feig, however, was quick to dismiss these circulating claims. Taking to Twitter, he firmly stated, “This is total BS. Sorry.” He reassured fans that the movie is complete and will be released soon, urging followers not to trust everything they see on social media.

When asked for clarification on why the film lacks a specific release date, Feig explained, “It’s called post production, which typically takes over six months to complete when considering all the elements like editing, scoring, special effects, sound mixing, and quality control.” He further elaborated that their timeline always aimed to finish by mid-January, indicating that studios often deliberate for a year to determine the optimal release date for a movie.

Feig emphasized that plans have been in place for a spring or summer release this year. So, for those anxiously awaiting A Simple Favor 2, rest assured: it’s on track, and expectations are set for a theatrical debut soon. Stay tuned for updates.
