Joey Essex Talks About His Desire to Relocate to the U.S. After His Success on Love Island UK
In a recent exclusive interview, Joey Essex shared his aspirations of moving to the United States following his rise to fame on reality television in the U.K. Speaking candidly, the 34-year-old star reflected on his experiences in the reality TV sphere, particularly his recent stint in the villa on Love Island UK.
Essex described the intense secrecy surrounding his Love Island entrance, saying, “For me to go on Love Island UK and it not to get leaked was a huge deal. The producers warned me it was going to get out, but it was important for me to keep it under wraps.” He recalled the surprised reactions from fellow contestants when he arrived: “They were all confused, thinking, ‘Is he here to host or just to say hello?’ I had to clarify that I was there for the show.”
His journey to the villa began two years prior, with a conversation about wanting to join the show, initially presented as a joke. “I reached out to someone from my early career on The Only Way Is Essex, suggesting that if they wanted a real bombshell, they knew who to call,” Essex explained. His excitement grew as discussions evolved into reality, and just weeks later, he was transported to the villa under tight security to prevent any leaks.
Essex’s time on the show didn’t lead him to find love, but he is still searching. “I’m actively looking for a partner,” he admitted, mentioning that he believes the woman of his dreams might be in America.
Essex is now eager to expand his horizons by moving Stateside. “I want to invest in a property there next year and explore new projects,” he shared. “I find new challenges exciting, and taking on America is a big one for me.” He has already made a brief appearance in the U.S. reality scene, featuring in Season 8 of Selling Sunset, which has fueled his motivation.
During his time in Los Angeles, he crossed paths with Chelsea Lazkani from Selling Sunset, who encouraged him to explore more opportunities in real estate. Essex described the experience as spontaneous and enjoyable, leading to a noticeable boost in his social media following and public recognition.
Despite his time in the spotlight since gaining fame on The Only Way Is Essex, Essex remains humble about his journey. “I was not a strong student growing up. I struggled with dyslexia and didn’t have a clear path,” he reflected. Joey’s career took off unexpectedly when he ventured into television, a move that dramatically changed his life.
The reality star is contemplating new ventures, particularly in fashion. “The fashion world really interests me, especially in L.A. and New York,” he said, envisioning a future that includes both style and possibly a film or documentary about his life.
Looking ahead, Essex hopes to fulfill his dreams of family life. “I always thought I would settle down before 30, but I’m content now. I am eager to meet the right person, especially in America.” He ends with optimism, stating, “I truly believe the woman of my dreams is out there waiting for me.”
