Mark Zuckerberg’s Shocking Admission: Biden Administration ‘Repeatedly Pressured’ Facebook to ‘Censor’ Content — Including Hunter’s Scandalous Laptop

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has made a striking admission, revealing that President Joe Biden’s administration “pressured” Facebook to censor certain content on the platform, including stories related to Hunter Biden’s notorious laptop. In a detailed letter addressed to GOP House Rep. Jim Jordan, Zuckerberg confessed that the administration’s influence led Facebook to take actions that, in retrospect, he regrets.

Zuckerberg, 40, wrote, “I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it.” He further elaborated that decisions made under pressure from the Biden administration would not be repeated today, given what they now know. “I also think we made some choices that, with the benefit of hindsight and new information, we wouldn’t make today,” Zuckerberg admitted.

One of the most significant points in Zuckerberg’s letter was his acknowledgment that “several senior Biden Administration officials, including the White House, repeatedly pressured” Meta to censor content related to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. He disclosed that the White House expressed frustration when Meta’s teams did not fully comply with their demands.

Mark Zuckerberg also addressed the controversial decision to demote a story published by the New York Post in October 2020, which reported on corruption allegations involving then-presidential candidate Joe Biden’s family based on information from Hunter Biden’s laptop. Amid claims that the story was part of a Russian disinformation campaign, Facebook chose to demote the story while waiting for fact-checkers to review it. Mark Zuckerberg now admits that this was a mistake. “It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story,” he confessed.

As Sydtomarket.net previously reported, the FBI had warned Meta about a potential Russian disinformation operation related to the Biden family ahead of the 2020 presidential election. However, the Hunter Biden laptop story was later confirmed to be true, with thousands of files from the computer—including photos and videos of Hunter Biden engaging in illicit activities—being shared online. These files also revealed how Hunter Biden leveraged his father’s political connections for business dealings abroad, including in Ukraine.

The White House has yet to comment on Mark Zuckerberg’s admission regarding the demotion of the Hunter Biden laptop story, but they did respond to claims that the administration pressured Facebook to censor content about the COVID-19 pandemic. A spokesperson for the White House stated, “When confronted with a deadly pandemic, this Administration encouraged responsible actions to protect public health and safety.” The spokesperson added that while tech companies should consider the impact of their actions on the American public, they are expected to make independent choices about the information they present.

Mark Zuckerberg assured that Meta has learned from these experiences and is now better prepared to resist similar government pressure in the future. “I feel strongly that we should not compromise our content standards due to pressure from any Administration in either direction—and we’re ready to push back if something like this happens again,” he stated. Mark Zuckerberg emphasized that Meta has revised its policies to prevent a repeat of the situation, noting, “We’ve changed our policies and processes to make sure this doesn’t happen again—for instance, we no longer temporarily demote things in the US while waiting for fact-checkers.”

This is not the first time Mark Zuckerberg has spoken about Facebook’s handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story. In an August 2022 interview with Joe Rogan, he discussed the decision to demote the story, acknowledging that while it was a challenging situation, Facebook’s actions were intended to be reasonable, even if they ultimately drew significant criticism.
