Olivia Rodrigo Shares Reflections on Harrowing Stage Fall and Its Unexpected Silver Lining
In a candid moment during her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Olivia Rodrigo opened up about a frightening incident that occurred during her GUTS World Tour performance in Melbourne, Australia. The 21-year-old pop sensation recalled the moment she fell through a stage opening, describing the experience as “really scary.”
Olivia, known for her hit single “Good 4 u,” expressed her mixed feelings about the fall. She admitted that watching the footage later was terrifying, but emphasized the importance of perseverance in show business. “The show must go on, that’s show business baby,” she remarked.
Interestingly, Olivia found a silver lining in the experience. After her fall, she was taken to a hospital for precautionary checks to rule out a concussion. There, she encountered a nurse who shared not only her Filipino heritage but also bore the same name as her grandfather, who had recently passed away. “I took it as a sign that he was looking out for me,” Olivia reflected. “In hindsight, it’s a beautiful thing. I’m actually happy it happened.”
The incident took place on October 14 as she performed and unexpectedly tripped into an open stage hole. With her signature sarcastic style, Olivia said, “Oh my God, that was fun,” before reassuring fans, “I’m okay! Sometimes there’s just a hole in the stage. That’s alright.”
