Jodie Turner Smith and her A-list co-stars are eager for audiences to dive into Showtime’s new series The Agency, set to premiere on November 29. In an exclusive interview, Smith, 38, reflected on her involvement in the project, humorously remarking about seeing her image on promotional posters. “I look at the posters for this and I’m like, ‘Woah that’s me!’” she shared, emphasizing her approach of embracing each opportunity with curiosity and a desire to grow as an artist.

Delving into her character, Samia, Smith highlighted the complexities of human nature. “Every person has nuances influenced by their upbringing, beliefs, and experiences,” she explained. “I aim to weave that complexity into my roles, hoping viewers connect with the humanity of my character and join her on her journey.”

The Agency, based on the French series Le Bureau Des Légendes, is an espionage thriller that reveals the challenges faced by deep-cover agents living under false identities. Alongside Smith, the series also stars Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright, Richard Gere, and Katherine Waterston.

India Fowler, who portrays Poppy, shared insights into what sets The Agency apart from typical espionage dramas. “Viewers will find a thirst for more from these characters, as they offer layers that resonate deeply,” Fowler noted, adding that she drew from personal experiences to embody her role, particularly the emotional weight of losing a parent.

Actor Alex Reznik also shared his immersive preparation for his character, attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings to authentically portray the struggles faced by his role. “As corporate agents, our duty is to protect, but we do it through deception, living double lives,” he revealed.

Director Joe Wright acknowledged the demanding production schedule, noting that filming began in May to meet tight deadlines. He highlighted a memorable scene featuring Michael’s character in a solitary moment of paranoia, searching for hidden microphones in his apartment.

The Agency will be available for streaming on Fridays and airs on Showtime on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET, inviting viewers into a world of intrigue and deep character exploration.
