Diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago, the supermodel initially faced a recommendation for standard treatments like chemotherapy and radiation from 32 cancer specialists. However, the 60-year-old chose to forgo their advice in favor of a personalized approach, assembling a team of holistic practitioners.

Macpherson was diagnosed with HER2-positive estrogen-receptive intraductal carcinoma after undergoing a lumpectomy. Despite recommendations for a mastectomy, radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and reconstructive surgery, she opted for a “heart-led, holistic” approach.

In an interview with Australian Women’s Weekly, Macpherson shared her decision to follow a holistic path was challenging but deeply personal. She stated, “Choosing a holistic approach and rejecting traditional medical treatments was incredibly difficult. Yet, listening to my inner sense felt even more crucial.”

Macpherson’s unconventional treatment team included a primary physician, a naturopath, a holistic dentist, an osteopath, a chiropractor, and two therapists. She spent time in Phoenix, Arizona, where she worked closely with these practitioners.

Among her advisors was Dr. Zach Bush, a former internal medicine doctor who has criticized chemotherapy. Macpherson has spoken about the insights she gained from Bush, who has argued against chemotherapy and suggested that cancer is a symptom rather than a root cause of illness.

Dr. Simoné Laubscher, another key figure in Macpherson’s treatment, claimed to have successfully treated her own breast cancer with vegan supplements. Laubscher’s approach included a focus on plant-based nutrition and detoxification.

Additionally, Dr. Sara Siso, a plant-based healer who has publicly stated she cured her own cervical cancer through juice cleanses and detox programs, also influenced Macpherson’s treatment decisions.

Macpherson previously detailed her friendship with Siso, emphasizing the positive impact of vegetable juicing and holistic practices.

Dr. Andrew Wakefield, a controversial figure who claimed a link between vaccines and autism, was also involved in Macpherson’s life until their split in 2021. Wakefield’s discredited theories have contributed to his notoriety.

Despite the skepticism surrounding these alternative treatments, Macpherson credits her recovery to the holistic approach she chose over conventional medical options.
